Explosion Causes Partial Building Collapse in The Hague

An explosion occurred early this morning in an apartment building on Tarwekamp in the Mariahoeve district of The Hague, causing part of the building to collapse. Emergency services have launched a large-scale operation to rescue and search for people who may be trapped.

So far, four individuals have been rescued and taken to the hospital. The exact number of victims remains unclear. Residents from forty nearby homes have been evacuated and are being accommodated elsewhere in the neighborhood.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Police reported that shortly after the incident, a car sped away from the scene. They are requesting anyone who saw the vehicle or has relevant camera footage to come forward.

Specialized Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams and sniffer dogs are on-site to assist in the search for any additional victims under the rubble. Mayor Van Zanen visited the location earlier to be briefed on the situation.
